Sunflower Recycling has been in existence for the past 15 years and has built up a reputation as one of the foremost environmental projects in the country and, indeed, in Europe. The project has won several awards in Ireland including the Environmental Awareness Award from the Dept of Environment and the Guinness Living Dublin Awards. Sunflower was also chosen as the Irish representative project for the EU Integra Programme in 1999. The project has operated two separate EU programmes INTEGRA for working with long-term unemployed adults and YOUTHSTART for working with disadvantaged youth.
 

The ethos of Sunflower is to work within the local community to foster active citizenship and personal development within the ranks of the unemployed in a disadvantaged area.

Sunflower's customer base is in the inner city and caters to small, medium and large businesses. It includes several government departments and civic offices as well as D.I.T.s in the city and many well-known retailers and offices. Sunflower Recycling deal exclusively in Paper, Cardboard and Cans. All collection staff are trained at manual handling and health & safety procedures.

  
Busybees is a continuation of the innovative Sunflower Recycling project - Busybees not only recycle, prepare and resell pre-loved furniture at great prices but also provide a removal service for any unwanted household furniture in pefectly good condition.
