District Heating Feasibility Study Launched

Dublin City Council are launching today (11th October 2008) the District Heating for Dublin Feasibility Study report.

Dublin City Council appointed RPS to assess the potential to implement a city wide district heating network and to examine the long-term viability of such a network.

The study was supported by Sustainable Energy Ireland who provided funding for the preparation of the report.

District Heating involves the distribution of heat to customers from centralised heat sources via a hot water pipe network.

Such systems have already proven successful in many European cities, most notably in Copenhagen.
